Philanthropy / Community Service

Our club is involved in several service projects in the community.

CMOTC received a $500.00 grant June 2007 for the My Very Own Blanket Service Project from the OFMOTC!!

Recent/On-going Philanthropic Projects:

*** For the second year in a row the Club participated in The March of Dimes Walk America. Thanks to all who donated and participated. ***

Members Ad Booklet: Members advertised business and services and proceeds when to the general philanthropic fund.

CMOTC Cookbook: Members submitted recipes and proceeds are going to the clubs Library, to purchase informational DVDs and such.

Philanthropic Night: October meeting 2006

We made 20 blankets for myveryownblanket.org. Makes sure foster children have a blanket of their own.
We made about 70 cards and had about 200 donated that we will be getting to troops so they can keep in touch with friends and family at home.
We made about 50 stuffed bears for Touching Little Lives.
We also collected $50 for Touching Little Lives in addition to the products.

Ronald McDonald House at Children's Hospital

At each monthly meeting, members collect items needed at the Ronald McDonald House including food, cleaning supplies and soda can tabs. Several times throughout the year members cook and serve dinner to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

Touching Little Lives

Beginning this fall, CMOTC will also be collecting supplies for Touching Little Lives - an organization that supports families with preemies by providing hand-made comfort items (blankets, hats) for newborns in area hospitals.
The mission of this non-profit organization is to 'touch the little lives' of needy premature and newborn infants in Ohio, to do all that they can to give them -- free of any charge -- the necessities that every newborn needs.

Adopt-a-Family

CMOTC adopts a local family with multiples each year to provide assistance and supplies as they need it.

Donations after the Fall and Spring Clothing Sales

Many CMOTC Members choose to donate items after the sales to local families and organizations. Several of the organizations which have received our donations include: Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, Westerville Caring and Sharing, St. Sophia Community Free Store, The United Methodist Free Store, Westerville Baptist Maternity Center, Pregnancy Distress Centers, Choices - Battered Women's Shelter, and many others.

Other Philanthropic Activities in 2002-2004

Support for the Troops - Twelve gift bags of Avon products were sent to the troops in the Gulf.
Sandwiches for St. Lawrence Haven - St. Lawrence Haven is located in downtown Columbus and provides food for people in need. Several times throughout the year make sandwiches after our monthly meeting to be taken to St. Lawrence.
Financial Donations for two Columbus schools in special need.
Ice Cream Social to benefit the Leukemia Society in memory of life-time club member Nedda Melaragno.
