SELLING at the sales:
Your membership fees must be up-to-date in order to sell at the sale. Dues must have been received by the treasurer at least 1 week prior to the sale in order to sell on Friday. The club keeps 10% of your sales. An additional 20% will be deducted for club members who do not work the clothing sale, for a total of 30% deducted.
Every member must have a sale number to sell at the sale - Contact the Treasurer for a sale number. You keep the same number for each and every sale. Only new CMOTC members and women who have never sold items will be given a new number. Please check to be sure that you are using the correct number. No new sale numbers will be given out one week prior to the sale. Replacement sale number tag sheets will only be available until one week prior to the sale in cases where the original is lost or damaged.
Please use the two-sided tag the club provides - contact the Treasurer for the tag. Please print clearly. ALL TAGS ARE COLOR-CODED to assist in speed and ease in sorting out tags and items that remain after the clothing sale. The color tag you are to use is determined by your clothing sale number as follows: 1 - 25 blue; 26 - 50 yellow; 51 - 100 green; 101 - 150 pink/red; 151 - 200 orange; 201+ white. We do not provide the colored paper for tags. You must copy them on your appropriate colored paper.
If you tag your clothes with smaller tags or with the incorrect color there will be a 5% added charge. Members that work the sale will be charged a total of 15% and non-working members will be charged 35%.
Tagless items: We cannot sell any item without a tag. It will be placed on a table off of the sales floor to be claimed after the sale. Please check table when picking up your items. All unclaimed tagless items will be donated. Exception - if the value of the item is deemed less than $5, it may be tagged with a “club tag” and sold. Proceeds of club tags will go to CMOTC.
USE SAFETY PINS ONLY (ON CLOTHING AND SOFT ITEMS)! Please pin your tags securely. Use heavy-duty clear tape to seal and label other sale items. Only tape one side of the tag to make it easy to separate during the sale.
Items are to be priced in 50¢ increments (i.e. 50¢, $1.00, $1.50, and $2.00). If any of your items are not priced in 50¢ increments you will be charged an extra 5%. Members that work the sale will be charged a total of 15% and non-working members will be charged 35%.
We will not sell small items priced less than $1, clothing is not included. Put those small items, i.e., baby rattles, small toys, etc., in a bag and price the bag as an item. If you later decide to mark a price down on an item, please do so with a new tag.
Only seasonally appropriate clothing and items are to be sold (i.e. swimsuits at the Spring sale and winter coats at Fall sale).
Be sure to check your clothes carefully. We will not sell any clothes or items that are badly stained, torn, or are in need of repair.
If you wish to sell matching outfits as a set, pin them together. If the set can also be sold separately, be sure to pin a tag on each outfit.
All beds, cribs, big-ticket items are to be disassembled, with all pieces kept together with tape, rope, etc. Use clear packing tape/pins to attach your tag to your mattress(es). Take pictures of the assembled items or use the pictures from the original packaging or sale ad. All small pieces and instructions need to be in a large clear Ziploc bag stapled shut and securely taped to the item.
Dresses and coats sell better if they are on hangers. You will need to supply your own hangers. Racks are provided for hanging clothes (i.e., dresses, dressier clothes, and coats). PLEASE DO NOT USE THE RACKS FOR CLOTHES THAT ARE NORMALLY NOT HUNG UP. The racks have limited space.
Shoes: Tie or pin your shoes together. We don't have room and very few shoes sell, especially if they are in poor condition. Therefore, we will sell only dress shoes, boots (fall), sandals and swim shoes (summer) and infant shoes that are in good condition (i.e. clean, no holes, sufficient soles). In addition, sneakers that have that "barely worn" look can be sold. No socks are to be sold unless attached to an outfit.
Toys: Only sell electronic toys and equipment that work. Batteries must be in toys and equipment so the buyer will know it works. Please securely tape and bag toys - All toy parts/pieces and instructions need to be in a clear Ziploc bag stapled shut and securely taped to the toy. Please indicate if your item has all the pieces included, or if parts are missing. We only sell famous character and battery stuffed animals/dolls. You may donate any other stuffed animals, in our donation area, when you drop off your items on Friday night.
The sale of copied CDs or VCR tapes is not permitted. All CDs and VCR tapes must be in their original packaging or have original labels.
DROP OFF: Have your clothes, toys and equipment to the sale location between 5:15 P.M. and 6:30 P.M. on Friday evening. Anything brought after that time will not be put out until Saturday morning or Friday night, if time permits. You will also be asked to sign a donation waiver and fill out a return envelope.
Please take your items to the appropriate area, (i.e., toys with toys, furniture with furniture, clothes at the table with proper sizing) and place them on the tables. Each person will put out their own merchandise. You may have your family members help you.
Please leave one large box/container (i.e., 32 gallon Rubbermaid, large TV box) with your number clearly marked on it. This box will be used to return unsold items back to you. All your remaining boxes can be taken with you.
PICK UP: At 12:00noon all unsold clothes/items must be sorted back out by sale# to be returned to each seller. If you sold items in the sale, please help sort all unsold clothes. No one will be allowed onto the sales floor to gather items until the last customer is in line. Once everything is sorted back out, you may begin to take your items to your car. Everyone’s help will make the process go quickly. All unsold clothes, toys, equipment, etc., must be picked up by 12:30 P.M. on Saturday or they will automatically be donated. Make arrangements with another club member if you cannot make it back to pick up your things and do not want them donated.
You no longer need to submit an envelope with a stamp for your tags and checks. $1 will be taken out of your profits for a larger envelope, label and postage to mail back your tags and checks. It takes time to process all the sale tickets and to write the checks. You should receive a check within three weeks.
